And it’s the PERFECT job for anyone who doesn’t like to make calls out to people. Anyone who has a smidge of customer service experience (or not) and would rather wait around for others to call them.
Because I am one of those people, I hunted down these 23 legitimate companies who hire remote customer service representatives to take inbound calls.
Before I get into them, let me mention a few things:
- Some customer interaction experience may be required. Usually but not always. What I have found is a lot of companies require at least one year previous customer service experience. Think creatively here – your past job as a hostess at Applebee’s, cashier at Walmart, or a sales person at Kohl’s constitutes customer service work.
- Specific internet connections, computer hardware, and office environments are often referenced in the job description. If you have any kind of fast internet and a newer computer, you should be good.
- Training isn’t always included. See the first bullet point. When training is provided, some companies do it online and some expect you to go to the company’s location for a lengthy training session – usually about two weeks.
- Some companies require you to live within a certain areas. This is mainly for the initial training, ongoing training, company meetings…you get the idea.
