25 Online Jobs Paying $20.00 An Hour

Disclaimer: This post may contain affiliate links. Please read my disclosure for more info.

This is not a lame “jobs paying $20.00 an hour and let you work from home” post.

In fact: I’m not going to talk about surveys or renting out a room or selling crap or ride sharing.  I won’t even bring up the ‘best job ever’:  owning a blog (jury’s still out on that).

What I WILL talk about:

Legitimate work at home jobs that actually pay at least $20.00 an hour.

It gets better:

A lot of the jobs I’ll mention are considered the highest paying stay-at-home jobs for anyone without a butt-load of experience or education.

So if you’re looking for realistic ways to make $20.00 an hour online, you’ll love this post.

Let’s get started.

25 Online Jobs Paying $20.00 An Hour (or more)

These $20.00 an hour work from home jobs are with legitimate companies. Some are full-time, some are part-time, all are real jobs you can do online.

#1  Customer Champion Support at Zapier

Zapier is one of the best-known companies for hiring remote employees.  In fact, they always have a ton of remote jobs, one of which is Customer Champion Support.

Zapier has a standing opening for this job, meaning even if the job isn’t open right now it’s available frequently enough to want to hear from you now.  So, if you love helping people solve tricky technical problems, this is the job for you.

But if you want something different, check out their other remote openings.   There are quite a few jobs available today.

#2  Customer Service Rep. at Allstate

One of the largest insurance companies out there, Allstate frequently looks for Customer service Reps. to help their customers.

But let’s not limit the opportunities to customer service.  Allstate also hires home-based property adjusters and virtual underwriters.

State Farm and AAA are a couple other companies worth looking into, too.

#3  Editor at Polished Paper

Polished Paper has opportunities for exceptional editors, and they mean exceptional. They only want editors who can create a ‘polished paper’ that is free of grammatical and stylistic errors as well as one that is concise, direct, and poignant.

To be considered for an editing opportunity with Polished Paper, you have to follow their 2-step process:

1 – Register for a user account and upload your resume.

2 – Complete the 35-question editor test.  TIP: You are encouraged to use outside resources to complete the test (e.g., MLA, CSE, APA, and Chicago formatting guides).

Although their website doesn’t mention how much you’re paid, we know that the average annual salary for an Editor is over $53,000.00

#4  Telephonic Nurse, Medical Sales Rep, Underwriter, Management Nurse at Humana

#5  Conversational English Teacher at Qkids

One of the most popular – and most needed – remote jobs out there is Teaching conversational English to kids in China. Not only do you get to be silly, you can work a flexible schedule and still make $20.00 an hour.

Here’re my thoughts on Qkids.  Hint: they’re one of the best conversational teaching companies.

#6  Freelance Proofreader

Proofreading is an ‘up-and-coming’ high-paying remote job. In fact, with over 500 million blogs out there, proofreaders are becoming more in demand among blog owners.

The sky’s the limit as far as pay, meaning you can charge whatever you think you’re worth and get it.

Just like these people do:

How Much Do Proofreaders Charge

If you’re always finding errors on blogs (you’ll probably find some on this blog 🙂 ), you’re one step in the right direction to becoming a professional proofreader.  This is the online course I recommend for wanna-be proofreaders.

Which brings me to this job:

#7  Blog Content Creator

I told you in the beginning that I wouldn’t bring up the idea of owning a blog.  And I’m not.

Here’s what I am talking about:

Just like proofreaders, blog content creators are a hot commodity. And the best place to find a job is on the Problogger job board.

This is not blogging.  It’s creating content for other blogs.  In other words, you might write articles or source images or manage blogs.  You won’t own a blog therefore you won’t have the fear of not making money (because we know that blogging is hard work)

And since I’m talking about non-blog-owning blogging….

#8  Freelance Transcriber For Blogs

This is another high-paying work at home job. Big-time blog owners have a lot of their articles transcribed into readable text for their visitors who don’t want to watch the accompanying video.

For example, the Moz blog has a lot of video teaching posts:

Transcription for blog posts

Which is then transcribed and included in the blog post:

You can easily make over $20.00 an hour, just like these freelancers:

#9 Social Media Specialist at Worldwide101

Worldwide101 calls themselves a ‘premium subscription staffing’ company.  Meaning, they hire people to do specialized work for their subscribed clients.

#10  SAT and ACT Tutor at PrepScholar

Teaching the SAT or ACT in a one-on-one setting will get you at least $30.00 an hour. That’s as long as you’ve mastered the SAT or ACT and can work at least 15 hours a week.

#11  Writer / Editor at Berkley Journalism

Is journalism your thing ?

UC Berkley’s graduate school of journalism is looking for part-time writers to join their editorial team.

According to their website:

The ideal candidate will have a degree in journalism and/or communications, and be able to demonstrate solid skills in writing and editing for industry and magazine publications. Advanced degree a plus. Compensation is $25-$40/hr., depending on experience.

Need I say more ?

#12  English-As-A-Second-Language Instructor at DaDaABC

There are a lot of ‘teach English as a second language’ posts out there.

It’s no wonder:

You can make $25.00 an hour while having fun ! And you don’t need to be a teacher teacher, either, like I explain in this post.

I selected DaDa because it’s one of the best English-as-a-secong-language companies out there.

#13  Independent Sales Representative at Blooms Today

This is a no-cold-calling, inbond-calls only job that pays up to $24.00 an hour for top performers.

This is what Blooms Today has to say about the Sales job:

The independent sales representative will provide an exceptional buying experience by understanding and exceeding our customers’ expectations. This candidate will work in a very dynamic environment or remote work at home setting where your energy and ideas will always be valued and where your performance will fast-track your sales career. This is not your typical independent sales position!

#14  Content Strategist at The Search Guru

I should mention that The Search Guru has a bunch of other work at home jobs but the Content Strategist position is the one I see available most often.

In a nutshell, you’ll structure and write content that people will actually be interested in reading online, despite the overwhelming competition.  Additionally, you know how to edit others’ work, and turn an unusable piece of content into something a client will love.

Starting as part-time, this flex-schedule job will eventually go full-time.

And as far as pay, they say:

Competitive hourly rate, based on experience.

Which, according to PayScale, is just over $60,000.00 a year. That’s over $28.00 an hour !

Content Strategist Salary

Then there’s this other awesome job that comes up a lot:

#15  SEO Strategist at The Search Guru

This is what they say about the job:

You’ll be in charge of the SEO Strategy for a book of clients and then to implement that strategy with a team of talented specialists. This includes hands on work, overseeing the work of others and adjusting strategy as necessary.

This is kind of a vague job title because it can have multiple meanings:  Ad Performance Analyst and Marketing Coordinator to name two.

But whatever, because…

…Cafemedia always seems to have remote jobs in the digital marketing field. Which, by the way, has an average salary of over $64,000.00 a year – or over $30.00 an hour.

Have a little experience as a product manager (meaning you can guide the success of a product through your customers) ?

Cool !

#19  Content Creator at Animalz

In their words: “A content marketing agency, Animalz strives to create the best content on the web…”

If writing is your thing – without dealing with the content farms – check out the Content Creator jobs at Anamilz.

By the way, this is NOT a freelance writing job. It’s a full-time, 40 hour a week, work from anywhere, benefits included job.

What is the salary for a Content Creator ?

Zip Recruiter tells us it’s around $49,000.00 a year or over $23.00 an hour.

#23  Scribe, Co-Writer, aka Ghost Writer at Scribe

Have a passion for writing and editing books ?
