How awesome would it be to make money without a job ?
Can it be done ?
Can you really earn money without working ?
Yep !
In this article I’ll show you 18 simple ways to make money without having a job.
In fact, These are my picks of the most convenient, easy, and prosperous ways to have more money in your pocket without working for it.
Let’s get to them.
Here’s How To Make Money Without A Job
No doubt, the best way to make money is to actually work for it.
But if you don’t want to do that, there are ways you can have extra money in your pocket without having a job.
I want to start out this list with two ways to make it easier to buy things online because a lot of the money we do have goes towards online shopping.
Be sure to continue reading to catch all the other ways to easily earn money without working.
#1 Save Your Email Receipts
Whenever you shop online, make sure you get a confirmation email of your purchase.
Why?
Because more than likely what you bought just went on sale…somewhere. And Paribus, a free tool that checks for price reductions, saves you the time and aggravation of tracking these sales yourself.
The Paribus tool scans through your email receipts, looking for purchases you made from Amazon, Target, Best Buy, Walmart, Kohls (and several others), and if they identify a price drop, you will get 100% of the savings
#2 Score Gift Cards From All The Big Stores
Not quite as good as cold, hard cash but gift cards are highly sought after if you shop online.
Amazon, Target, Walmart, Wayfair…and many more online retailers have gift cards up for grabs if you’re willing to put in a few minutes of your time.
The best ways to get your hands on gift cards is by doing ONLINE SURVEYS, using RECEIPT SCANNING APPS, or using ONLINE SHOPPING PORTALS. I’ll go over some of the best options for you:
Survey sites that give gift cards are:
- Survey Junkie here.
- Vindale Research
- Pinecone Research
Ibotta and Shopkick are two of my favorite receipt scanning apps.
When it comes to online shopping portals, Ebates and BeFrugal are popular ones to check out.
#3 Speaking of Gift Cards…Sell Them
Now that you have a few gift cards in your hands, you can sell them for a profit. Here’s what you do:
- Go to Raise and sign up as a gift card seller
- Set your price
- Get paid via PayPal, direct deposit, or check
You can sell just about any physical or e-gift card you have, as long as the face value is at least $10.00. And because you’re scoring gift cards (see previous “no-job” technique above), this is a simple way to convert them to cash.

#4 Drive Around And Earn Money
Do you spend a lot of time driving around, running errands or taking your kids everywhere?
You can make money while driving your car delivering all kinds of things: packages, groceries, small furniture, food, even animals.
Companies like Amazon, Roadie, and Shipt pay people to do this stuff for them. Check out this post on how to make money while driving your car.
#5 Be a “Looker”
You can make money without a job doing the legwork for someone else. WeGoLook pays you to check-out things that their customers aren’t physically able to do. Like checking out a rental property, looking at something on Craigslist, or looking at a car for sale.

#6 Do Some Fiverr Gigs
Fiverr is a pretty cool site because there are so many opportunities to make quick money. You can create a gig for just about anything from writing, to making a logo, to quick garden designs and people will pay you.
Here’s an example:
Voice over scripts can earn up to $20.00.

And another example, this one in the arts & crafts category:

The default price for selling your Fiverr gig is $5.00 but you can add extra services for more money.
#7 Flip Used Stuff
I’ve dabbled a little bit in flipping small pieces of used furniture. The key is finding quality pieces that can be cleaned up and made attractive to potential buyers. I have found that items made of solid wood sell best. OfferUp, my town’s Facebook Open Forum, and my local Habitat For Humanity Restore are my favorite places to find potential pieces that can be flipped.
But don’t just settle for flipping used furniture. You can flip just about anything out there, like this guy, “Craigslist Hunter” shows us. Watch his video for yourself and tell me you’re not “sold” (tee-hee 🙂 )
If you want more ideas, Finance Super Hero wrote a great article telling us the best 25 items to flip for money and where to find them. Pretty interesting.
#8 Be The Next Big T-Shirt Designer
I live in my t-shirts. So much so, they’re literally falling apart – that’s the ugly side of working from home.
You can come to my rescue by being the designer of my everyday staple. This is a non-job way to make easy money doing something that shows off your expressive abilities. If this is something you’re interested in, consider submitting your designs to:
- Threadless
- Teespring
- Design by Humans
- Merch by Amazon
Take a look at this tutorial from Threadless:
#9 Get Paid For Being Creative
Tap into your inner Ansel Adams, Van Gough, or Dr. Seuss and make money for your artistic creations. And I’m not talking only about art you do with a brush. Whether you’re a poet or painter, you can get paid for your artwork and make decent money, too.
You can get paid to make greeting cards with companies such as Blue Mountain Arts and American Greetings.
If you’re a crafty person, try Artsy, CafePress and Etsy to sell your works of art.
Are you good at writing poetry? Check out The Sun Magazine, Poetry Foundation, and Rattle and earn up to $100.00 per poem.
#10 You’re smart. Make Money As An “Expert”
Have you ever had a question stuck in your craw? Something you needed an answer to so you turned to the web for resolution? Why not turn the tables and be the know-it-all for others ?
Here are some well-known sites that pay you to be an “pro” on any topic:
- Just Answer (answer a variety of questions)
- Study Pool (online tutor for a variety of subjects)
- Wonder (research and answer in detail)
- Maven (be an pro, share your knowledge)
If you really have the gumption and want a little passive income, create an e-book on any subject with Ether and Udemy.
#11 Get Paid To…
Another easy way to make a little bit of money is with the ever-popular “Get Paid To…” sites.
The premise is simple, do a little something and get paid. For example, Prize Rebel will pay for watching videos, downloading apps and doing little online tasks. Swagbucks pays for watching videos and doing quick surveys.
A few others worth looking into are National Consumer Panel, Perk, and Inbox Dollars
#12 Be a Crowd Worker
I love this idea ! It’s a simple way to make money without working because it’s so non-job-ish.
Want to do something completely mindless like data entry? Want to show off some of your talents like graphic design? How about a little proofreading ?
Crowd working tasks aren’t limited to just these areas, either. Think of anything you you’re good at: image editing, creating logos, editing documents, crafting resumes…the opportunities are endless. And the more you do, the more skills you have, the more you’ll earn.
Mturk and Clickworker are the two best crowd working places that come to mind.
#13 Sell Your Boxes
Now who doesn’t have a few empty boxes lying around? Believe it or not, you can sell your boxes to people who need them and make a few bucks. Who knew? Boxcycle.com is one place that comes to mind.

#14 Shop for Others
One of life’s little necessities is grocery shopping. And it’s also one of those weekly chores a lot of people don’t have time for.
This is where you come in, with the help of Instacart and shipt.com.
Becoming more and more popular in the larger cities (and surrounding areas), people are willing to pay you to pick up their groceries. Heck, you do it for yourself anyway. Why not make money shopping for others? In fact, you can make anywhere from $5.00 an hour up to $25.00 an hour.
Here are the requirements to be a shopper:
- Be 18 years old (minimum)
- Have a reliable vehicle, 15 years old or newer
- You need an iPhone (iOS 10 or newer) or Android (5.1 or newer)
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and auto insurance are a must !
- You need to pass a background check
- Insulated cooler bag is necessary
- Have some knowledge of produce selection
- You’ll have to lift 25+ pounds
#15 Manage Pinterest For Others
Did you know you could make thousands every month as a Pinterest Manager? And you don’t need a Pinterest following to do it.
All you really need is to know how to create great Pins and know how Pinterest works. There are over 20 million Pinterest users and a lot of them are businesses. To tap into their social media budget and manage their Pinterest accounts, read my recent article on how to be a Pinterest Manager and make money.
#16 Make Money Testing Websites
Also called Usability Tester, this is a fun side gig where you critique websites and blogs and record your thoughts of them.
The main goal is to give feedback so the client knows what the hits and misses of their site or blog are. You sign up to be a tester, answer a few questions about a website (often via your computer’s microphone), explain what is good, bad, confusing or awesome and get paid.
Usertesting.com and UserZoom.com are the most popular places to become a website tester but you can also sign up with Enroll App and Userfeel.
As far as the pay goes, you can make anywhere from $5.00 to $50.00 to do a 20-40 minute website test.
#17 Make Money Creating Blog Photos
Do you see photo opportunities everywhere you go ? At the grocery store, walking the dog, hiking in the woods…wherever you are, you whip out your cell phone and snap a picture ?
Probably not.
But…
if you’re willing to take pictures of anything, and do it well, you can make money.
You don’t have to be a professional photographer to make money selling your photos but the better you are, the more money you’ll make. You can expect to earn anywhere from $1.00 to $20.00 per photo.
There’s a HUGE market for good, one-of-a-kind images for blog owners – they’re always looking for great pictures to add to their articles and social media posts.
And here’s a little secret: Take pictures within a niche. For instance, thewaryworker.com is always looking for business/office related images. Mommy bloggers need images with children doing what kids do. And personal finance bloggers want pictures of money-related things.
These places are worth checking out:
- Foap
- Candidly Images
- Twenty20
- Shutterstock
- Istockphoto
- Dreamstime.com
#18 Be A Blogger
I can’t write this post without mentioning this super-popular way to make money without working. Well, not working in the traditional sense.
Blogging is work, but it’s fun work. When it comes to making money as a blogger, you have a few options. You can:
- Start your own blog and make money from Google Adsense and/or affiliate marketing, or
- Write on other blogs
Whichever path you choose, blogging can be done whenever/wherever you want.
It’s Easy To Make Money Without Working
Nothing beats the steady income you get with a J-O-B but when you need a little more – or you just don’t have one – these simple solutions will bring in that boost to your bank account you need.
Even if you’re one of those lucky ones who doesn’t need to work but wants a hobby, these ideas might be what you’re looking for.
